Chongqing - On December 26, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SCFAI) launched the Regional and International Art Research Institute, marking a significant step in its internationalization efforts. 

The institute aims to explore global art trends, governance in global art education, and dissemination of Chinese art overseas through an interdisciplinary approach combining the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.

The new institute will leverage SCFAI's strengths in various disciplines, long-standing global networks, and accumulated resources from overseas collaborations. It will focus on regions such as Russia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and North America. The institute's research will address pressing global art issues while fostering deeper understanding and exchange across cultures.

The institute aims to develop a unique theoretical and methodological framework for regional and international art studies with distinct "SCFAI characteristics." The institute will collaborate with world-renowned universities, international organizations, and domestic research institutions, conducting advisory, cultural exchange, and academic innovation activities. These efforts are expected to enhance the university's research capacity and elevate its international influence.

The institute will also attract top domestic and international scholars, incubate joint research projects, and cultivate high-level art talents with global perspectives. It will establish an academic community that breaks cultural barriers, leading innovation in the arts and promoting deeper integration of research, education, and communication in the field.

As China's first Regional and International Art Research Institute, this new initiative will introduce innovative working mechanisms and reform the evaluation of scientific research. It will contribute SCFAI's expertise to the national and regional development of education and cultural diplomacy and serve as a new model for international joint research and cultural exchange among art institutions.

Tang Qingyang, Secretary of the SCFAI Party Committee, emphasized that establishing the Regional and International Art Research Institute is a strategic move to strengthen research and creation in the international art field. The institute will work on organizing and accelerating international collaborative research, aiming to produce high-quality joint research outcomes that reflect SCFAI's unique identity in the global arts community.
