Chongqing - On December 27, the "Focus on New Chongqing, Hong Kong Business Restart" event took place in Southwest China's Chongqing, bringing together Hong Kong entrepreneurs to explore fresh opportunities for collaboration and growth.
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Chongqing Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Association co-hosted the event, which aimed to help Hong Kong businesses take advantage of Chongqing's new development prospects and strengthen ties between the two cities.
"Last year, Chongqing and Hong Kong established a cooperation framework that has enabled the HKTDC to actively promote Hong Kong's business community to explore opportunities in Chongqing. Through key platforms like the Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade, the HKTDC continues to bridge Hong Kong's innovation with Chongqing's industrial growth," said Wang Nan, HKTDC Representative in Chongqing. She expressed confidence that the event would inspire businesses to think outside the box and extend their investments into new, promising sectors.
Huang Zushi, President of the Chongqing Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Association, emphasized the importance of strong government support in fostering the association's growth. Over the past three years, the association has grown to connect more than 400 Hong Kong residents and entrepreneurs across various sectors, including professional services, technology, real estate, finance, healthcare, and media. Huang noted that the association aims to become the leading platform for Hong Kong entrepreneurs in Chongqing, working closely with the HKTDC to strengthen communication and broaden cooperation channels.
The event also featured presentations from senior leaders and experts from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology. They provided in-depth analyses of Chongqing's recent achievements and future development plans, covering topics such as the city's modern service industries, its rise as an international consumption center, and evolving industrial policies.
Ye Fan, Southwest Securities' chief economist, shared her outlook for China's macroeconomics, policies, and industries in 2025. She offered a forward-thinking perspective for Hong Kong businesses.
Four Hong Kong entrepreneurs shared their experiences doing business in Chongqing to further encourage collaboration. Their success stories and practical insights helped boost confidence and interest among fellow entrepreneurs looking to enter or expand in the Chongqing market.
