Chongqing - On the evening of December 31, the 2025 Chongqing New Year’s Concert, themed "New Era, New Journey, New Chongqing," was held at the Chongqing Grand Theatre.
Co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chongqing Municipal Committee and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, the concert celebrated the arrival of the New Year with music, expressing gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the city’s development and progress. The Chongqing Symphony Orchestra led the concert for the 10th time, bringing beautiful music and heartfelt New Year’s blessings to the people of Chongqing.
The concert began with the orchestral piece Red Plum Overture, which portrays the resilient spirit of the Communist Party of China and symbolizes the unyielding revolutionary will. The powerful imagery of "red plums blooming proudly in the snow" embodies the determined spirit of Chongqing’s people as they advance into a new era.
The symphonic piece Twin Stars of the West resonated with confidence and vigor. This iconic composition draws inspiration from Sichuan folk songs, opera tones, and regional music. It showcases the united vision of Sichuan and Chongqing in jointly pursuing their "Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle" aspirations.
The violin concerto Sunlight Shines on Tashkurgan transported the audience on an exotic charm-filled journey, while the classic piano concerto Yellow River (movements two and four) brought the atmosphere to its peak. This was followed by captivating performances, including the vocal solo Why Is My Heart Stirred and the ballet duet Black Swan Pas de Deux. These performances offered both auditory and visual delight, leaving the audience deeply immersed in the artistic experience.
Finally, amid joyful melodies and applause, the concert concluded successfully, leaving an indelible mark as a celebration of unity, progress, and artistic brilliance.
