Third Session of the 6th Chongqing Municipal People's Congress Set for January 19-22, to Consider 2025 Development Plan

Chongqing – The third session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress is scheduled to take place from January 19 to 22, spanning four days as a key political event in the city, according to a press conference held on Wednesday. 

The session will include one preparatory meeting, three plenary sessions, five presidium meetings, and six delegation meetings.

Key agenda items for this political event include reviewing and approving the government work report, evaluating the implementation of the Chongqing Municipal National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2024, and considering the draft plan for Chongqing Municipal National Economic and Social Development in 2025.

As of January 15, 856 deputies to the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress have been confirmed. They are organized into 39 delegations, consisting of 38 district and county (autonomous county) delegations and one military delegation.

Around 198 attendees are expected, including heads of municipal government departments, representatives from the Chengdu-Chongqing Financial Court, and overseas Chinese representatives in Chongqing.

Additionally, business leaders, community leaders, heads of non-public economic and social organizations, and officials from foreign consular agencies in Chongqing or Southwest China will be invited to attend relevant meetings.

During the congress, a press conference themed around expanding and strengthening the manufacturing industry and creating new sources of new quality productive forces will be held on January 20. Four deputies and attendees will be interviewed.
