Gao Jian, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, emphasized that integrating innovation, industry, and ecology is the key to advancing the manufacturing industry with new, high-quality productive forces. This approach will help drive improvements in power, quality, and efficiency.

Deep industry transformation and upgrading characterize new, high-quality productive forces that span traditional, strategic, emerging, and future industries.

Eight municipal strategic emerging industry clusters are taking shape, including the national-level biomedicine cluster in Banan District and the new energy vehicle cluster in Liangjiang New Area, creating a clear development framework.

This initiative strongly supports vehicle projects like the Changan Yubei New Factory and the Seres Super Factory. The automotive industry now accounts for over 50% of Chongqing's industrial-added value.

For example, the AITO M9 continues to top sales among models priced above 500,000 yuan (USD 69,500), setting a new record for new energy vehicle brands.

Wang Zhijie, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, highlighted the importance of industry upgrading.

Efforts are underway to boost mass production and expand the overseas market for Chongqing-made vehicles, accelerating the city’s development as a hub for intelligent, connected new energy vehicles. The goal is to produce 2.6 million vehicles, with the number of new energy vehicles rising from 953,000 last year to 1.3 million units.

The new generation of electronic information manufacturing is another critical sector. Chongqing is actively developing intelligent terminals such as AI smartphones and PCs, expanding the production of servers and compound semiconductors, and cultivating new fields like advanced packaging and intelligent robots.

Chongqing is set to exceed a production capacity of 100,000 servers and increase the unit price of laptops by more than 8%.

Efforts are also focused on integrating the real economy with the digital economy, including boosting the supply of basic and industrial software. The goal is to increase the software industry’s main business income from 420.1 billion yuan last year to 500 billion yuan, with employment in the sector expected to grow from 437,000 to over 500,000.
