New Year Wishes from Consuls General

Chongqing - As 2025 unfolds, Chongqing continues strengthening its role as a vibrant international hub, bridging distances and fostering global connections. The city's growing openness and multicultural engagement have drawn it closer to the world, with foreign consulates-general in Chongqing and Chengdu playing a pivotal role in this journey. At the start of the Chinese New Year, consular officials from various countries extended their heartfelt wishes to the people of Chongqing, expressing hopes for prosperity, happiness, and deeper collaboration in the year ahead.

Takada Mari, Consul General of Japan in Chongqing, greeted the city with a warm "Happy New Year!" in English and Japanese. She said, "This year, the Expo Osaka Kansai is about to take place from April 13 to October 13. You can experience an exciting future society in Osaka. With direct flights between Southwest China and Japan increasing, please take this opportunity to visit Japan and experience its charm. Finally, I wish everyone the golden snake dances wildly, happiness for the whole family, and may your year be filled with fortune and vitality!"

Czégel Bálint, Consul General of Hungary in Chongqing, reflected on the 15th anniversary of the Hungarian Consulate in Chongqing in 2025. He said, "We are grateful for the strong support from all sectors of Chongqing. In the new year, I hope the people of Chongqing have days as warm and lively as a hot pot, with blessings as endless as the Jialing River." He added, "We look forward to working together with the people of Chongqing, welcoming the new spring with the dance of the snake, pursuing dreams, and writing new chapters!"

Eva Yi-Hua Yu, Consul General of Canada in Chongqing, shared her hopes for the year ahead. She said, "I wish the new year brings prosperity, innovation, and vibrant development to this dynamic city and its people. On behalf of the Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and good health, and may all your wishes come true!"

Anthony Preston, Consul General of the United Kingdom in Chongqing, wished Chongqing continued growth and prosperity. He said, "At the start of the new year, I wish our shared city continued growth and prosperity. May the people of Chongqing continue to live comfortably and have everything going smoothly, and may peace and joy surround you. Here's to a wonderful 2025 for all of us!"

Valentin Touris, Consul General of Uruguay in Chongqing, sent special greetings to the people of Chongqing. He said, "On the occasion of the New Year of the Snake, I would like to send my special greetings to all the people of Chongqing. This new year will be bright and will bring many opportunities for development, cooperation, and friendship between Uruguay and Chongqing. I wish you all good health and prosperity for the Chinese New Year of the Snake."

Joel Tan, Consul General of Singapore in Chengdu, extended his wishes for success and happiness. He said, "In the new year, I would like to wish everyone good luck in the Year of the Snake, success in work, happiness for the whole family, and may all your wishes come true."

Aron Mir Haschemi, Consul General of Germany in Chengdu, reflected on the progress in China-Germany relations. He said, "Looking back on the past year, China-Germany relations made significant progress, especially with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to Chongqing in April. The German delegation experienced firsthand the city where modernity and futurism coexist. As we enter the Year of the Snake in 2025, I am happiest to see more and more German friends starting to learn about Chongqing!"

These messages from international consuls underscore the city's expanding global influence and the shared aspirations for a prosperous and collaborative future. With its doors open to the world, Chongqing continues embracing opportunities and building bridges across continents.
