Chongqing - Chongqing and Sichuan recently announced a list of key joint projects for the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, which will be developed in 2025.

This year, Sichuan and Chongqing will collaborate on 320 key projects, focusing on seven major areas: building a modern infrastructure network, developing a coordinated modern industrial system, and establishing a nationally influential science and technology innovation center. Infrastructure and modern industrial projects comprise over 70% of the total.

Sichuan and Chongqing are primarily focused on the coordinated development of a modern industrial system. Of the total, 131 projects will focus on this area, representing more than 40% of the overall plan.

For example, Sichuan and Chongqing have planned 94 projects to foster an advanced manufacturing industry cluster, including STMicroelectronics 8-inch silicon carbide epitaxy and chip projects in Chongqing's high-tech zone.

Modern infrastructure development is a cornerstone for regional economic growth. This year, Sichuan and Chongqing are continuing to ramp up support for key joint projects, with 107 infrastructure projects planned, accounting for over 30% of the total.

In particular, for transportation infrastructure, the two regions will focus on three major airport projects, including the T3B terminal, fourth runway expansion at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, and 20 rail transit (railway) projects.

Additionally, by 2025, the joint construction of a nationally influential science and technology innovation center will accelerate. Sichuan and Chongqing are fast-tracking the construction of 24 scientific infrastructure and innovation platforms, such as ultra-fast experimental devices and infrared terahertz-free electron laser devices.

Moreover, 15 projects involving education, culture, sports, healthcare, elderly services, disaster prevention, and emergency rescue will be implemented to ensure the well-being of residents in both regions.
