Chongqing - On February 25, Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee, met with Eddie Wu, CEO of Alibaba Group, to discuss deepening collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure.

Yuan emphasized that Chongqing, as a megacity, offers abundant opportunities for AI development, driven by its diverse industries and robust social governance frameworks. He further highlighted the city’s efforts in establishing a digital governance and operations model, as well as exploring new pathways for modern urban management in large cities.
Chongqing is leveraging AI to empower its growth, creating a seamless digital ecosystem and enhancing the modernization of the city's manufacturing and governance systems. He explained that Chongqing aims to foster a new digital civilization and establish itself as a role model for urban governance in the digital age.
Yuan also pointed to the new opportunities in advancing AI large model applications, building a next-generation energy computing hub, and strengthening the city’s digital infrastructure. He urged Alibaba to expand cooperation with Chongqing in AI, cloud computing, digital services, and consumer innovation for mutual, landmark achievements.
In response, Wu stated that Alibaba’s future goals closely align with Chongqing's development trajectory. He reiterated the company’s commitment to deepening its engagement in the city, particularly in urban governance, AI infrastructure, cloud computing, AI-enabled consumption, and public services.
Wu emphasized that Alibaba would continue to work closely with Chongqing to accelerate the implementation of agreed initiatives and contribute to the city’s modernization and national strategic objectives.
