The Rising Star of Trend Art in Chongqing | Realpreneur Tales

By FENG, XIAOLOUXINGCHEN YUE|Mar 06,2025

Chongqing - At just 70th on the 2024 International Trend Artist Influence Ranking, Li Huan may seem like a newcomer compared to giants like Murakami Takashi and Yayoi Kusama.

However, for those familiar with Chongqing's trend art scene, Li is a name that resonates deeply. His works, full of fashion and imagination, have become integral to the city's youth cultural landscape, appearing in famous tourist spots, airport sculptures, and even massive wall paintings.

Graduated from Chongqing University's School of Arts, Li began his artistic journey during his student years, experimenting with illustrations and art installations. After graduation, he founded "Huanchao Fantasy" and "Lingjue Culture," dedicated to promoting his trend art creations through exhibitions, commercial licensing, and art toy development. His most notable IP, X Shoo, a series of trendy, youthful characters, has gained significant traction in the market.

Li's success story began with his early work, Dummy Doll, which became a bestseller in the 2000s when China's trend art market was still in its infancy. Without complicated marketing strategies, Dummy Doll captivated audiences nationwide, earning him substantial licensing fees and solidifying his belief in the potential of trend art.

Today, Li's works are not limited to art toys or blind boxes. Collaborations with local brands like Topwin Toy and Chaforu have expanded his influence, blending his unique style with commercial products. His latest creation, X Shoo, has been widely acclaimed, with installations like the Chongqing taxi-themed sculpture at Jiangbei International Airport and the hot pot-themed wall painting at Liziba Station becoming iconic landmarks.

For Li, art is more than just a profession—it's a way to connect with his hometown. By incorporating Chongqing's cultural elements into his works, he has created a bridge between tradition and modernity, making trend art accessible to a broader audience. As he continues to innovate and inspire, Li is not just an artist but a cultural ambassador for Chongqing, proving that creativity and perseverance can illuminate even the most challenging paths.
