AI-Powered Xinjiang Computing for Chongqing | Vision Crafters

By ZHAN CHEN|Mar 07,2025

Chongqing - At the 2025 China Two Sessions, the government work report highlighted plans to further promote the "artificial intelligence +" initiative.

It aims to integrate digital technology with the strengths of manufacturing and the market. The report emphasizes supporting the widespread adoption of large models and the development of new smart terminals, including intelligent connected new energy vehicles, AI-powered mobile phones and computers, and smart robots.

Xia Yong, a deputy to the National People's Congress and General Manager of China Mobile Group Chongqing Co., Ltd., recently interviewed Bridging News about digital Chongqing and his suggestions for this year.

Xia noted that the development of Digital Chongqing has given the city a strong data foundation. "As the DeepSeek large model gains traction, AI empowerment is becoming a necessity across various industries," he said.

He believes digital Chongqing is profoundly impacting the city's growth and improving residents' lives. For example, in the past, drivers often faced signal loss when entering tunnels, a major concern.

However, with the advancement of 5G technology, the Jiefangbei underground ring road in Yuzhong District now features the world's largest "5G + BeiDou" indoor high-precision positioning system, setting a benchmark for intelligent transportation, emergency response, and other sectors.

Regarding his suggestion for the Two Sessions, Xia proposed advancing the integration of Xinjiang's computing resources into Chongqing.

Chongqing is actively promoting resource complementarity with Xinjiang, where abundant, low-cost energy can meet the city's growing demand for computing power.

"Through the Xinjiang computing initiative, we can leverage Xinjiang's high-quality energy to perform computations and send the processed data back to Chongqing, strengthening the city's AI capabilities," Xia explained.

He hopes that, with national policy support for China's western regions and industry backing, the flow of computing resources between these regions can be further advanced.
