Chongqing - "We're putting Adient China Technical Center in Chongqing and Adient Chongqing on the global car seating map,"  David Axelsson, the Platform Director of Adient Chongqing, told Bridging News on March 7.

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry has seen rapid growth in recent years, with production exceeding 13 million units in 2024. At the same time, China is encouraging foreign investors to reinvest and actively participate in collaborations across the entire industry chain.

Adient, a global leader in automotive seating, is expanding its investment in Chongqing. Axelsson said that Adient has recently expanded the Adient China Technical Center in Chongqing. 

The Center is seamlessly integrated into Adient’s global network and will further enhance its seating innovation and development capabilities. Axelsson emphasized that Chongqing and its customers benefit from Adient’s full global expertise, which is delivered locally.

The Center features industry-leading facilities, including a sled test lab and a MAST table test lab. The sled test lab simulates extreme conditions like crash test and sudden braking to evaluate seat frame safety and impact resistance. The MAST table test lab replicates complex road vibrations, allowing thorough assessments of material durability and seat comfort.

Axelsson highlighted Adient's commitment to innovation in comfort, safety, connectivity, reconfiguration and sustainability ensuring seats adapt to users' evolving needs—whether driving, relaxing, or working in the vehicle.

With a presence in China since 1996 and in Chongqing since 2003. "We have worked with Chongqing automakers, both traditional OEMs as well as NEV startups, and we're very excited to now be part of the growth driven by the rising NEV market," said Axelsson.
