Chongqing - During the third session of the 14th National People's Congress, the Chongqing delegation submitted two motions and 188 suggestions, including four from the entire delegation, according to a press conference on March 10.
The suggestions covered a broad range of areas, from people's well-being to industrial transformation. For example, one suggestion calls for strengthening the protection of rights and services for new employment groups, such as delivery workers.
The reasoning behind this suggestion lies in the rapid growth of the platform and gig economies. Workers in new employment forms, such as online delivery drivers and food couriers, have benefited from flexible work opportunities. However, they are also encountering various infringements on their rights.
Therefore, the suggestion advocates for improving the legal framework, increasing platform accountability, strengthening industry oversight, and establishing a multi-tiered social security system, all while leveraging technology and promoting collaborative governance.
Another suggestion pertains to establishing unified standards for battery and battery replacement technology in the rapidly expanding new energy vehicle (NEV) industry.
This emphasizes the need for uniform technical standards for battery swapping. Relevant authorities should actively promote the development and implementation of unified standards for battery swapping stations.
This would break down industry barriers between car manufacturers and battery swapping operators, ensuring that NEVs from different brands can seamlessly perform battery swaps at any station adhering to the unified standards. The goal is to standardize and simplify battery swapping services, ultimately improving the user experience.

So far, the Chongqing delegation has attended two plenary sessions, a temporary party branch meeting, four delegation plenary meetings, seven group discussions, delivered nearly 300 speeches, and held eight briefings.
The opening day of the Chongqing delegation attracted 100 domestic and international media outlets, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, the Straits Times, and Bloomberg, with 193 journalists in attendance. This marked a new high in media participation, helping showcase Chongqing's positive image and voice to domestic and global audiences.
The delegation also organized a press conference with four deputies, who participated in interviews with reporters on the theme of coordinating urban-rural integration and comprehensive rural revitalization. The discussions helped build consensus on development and gathered support for progress.
According to Xinhua News, as of March 8 noon, Chinese national lawmakers submitted 269 proposals to the country's annual legislative session, the deadline for proposal submission at the third session of the 14th National People's Congress.
The secretariat of the session said on March 9 that it had also received over 8,000 suggestions from NPC deputies.
The secretariat said 268 of the proposals relate to legislative work, and one concerns oversight work. It added that the proposals primarily cover key, emerging, and foreign-related legislation.
The suggestions cover a wide range of topics, including boosting consumption, promoting AI applications to drive economic growth, and protecting the rights and interests of private enterprises.
