Chongqing - Southwest China’s first female-themed commercial landmark, LOT POP, is set to open in June. Once known as Jinying Women Street, the iconic Chongqing shopping spot is being reimagined as a bold new retail concept, bringing fresh energy to the local commercial scene.

Situated in Yangjiaping, one of the city's five traditional business districts, LOT POP is set to invigorate a neighborhood steeped in history. Since the early 20th century, Yangjiaping has been a bustling commercial center, sparked by the arrival of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway. Today, the district is known for its juxtaposition of towering skyscrapers and enduring traditional charm.

Since opening in 2005, Jinying Women’s Street has been a landmark for women’s shopping in Chongqing, offering a wide range of fashion and lifestyle goods in neon-lit alleys filled with trendy shops and the thrill of bargaining. At its height, the street boasted over 100 merchants and attracted over 10 million yuan in annual revenue.
According to the LOP TOP operator, the area's once-thriving retail scene has stagnated in recent years. An aging brand mix, a lack of trendy labels, and outdated infrastructure are contributing to a decline in foot traffic.
In 2024, momentum for revitalization began to build. A new investor entered the scene, and with the backing of local government, the project set out to resolve longstanding property rights issues and lay the groundwork for a unified operational model.
LOP TOP operator explained that the complex's redesign is about more than aesthetics; it represents a reimagining of how retail spaces can serve the modern consumer. The building's design emphasizes minimalist white facades, sleek geometric forms, and a 1,000-square-meter sky terrace. The interior is curated to reflect "female power," using soft lighting, natural hues, and calming atmospheres to foster an environment attuned to women.
The space is designed to meet women’s daily needs, such as dressing rooms and mother-and-baby rooms, to encourage them to stay and enjoy.
The complex will also feature a 24-hour gym by HiLEFIT and an exclusive night beauty experience, positioning itself as a "women's life center" that extends beyond traditional retail hours.
Nowadays, women focus more on shaping their own aspirations and pursuing a more fulfilling life free from external pressures. As of 2024, women are estimated to control $31.8 trillion in global spending, with their share of discretionary spending expected to reach 75% within the next five years, according to global marketing research firm NIQ, a renowned world marketing researcher.
