On May 22, 2025, the China (Chongqing)–Uzbekistan (Khorezm Region) Economic and Trade Exchange Conference was held in Chongqing.

Economic and trade cooperation between China and Uzbekistan has yielded fruitful results. Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992, bilateral cooperation has deepened across various fields. China has remained Uzbekistan’s largest source of imports for several consecutive years.

Chongqing enjoys close ties with Uzbekistan, having established friendly relations with Tashkent, Samarkand, Navoi, and Syrdarya provinces. In 2023, total import and export volume between Chongqing and Uzbekistan reached 1.28 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 240.1%. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, bilateral trade exceeded 300 million RMB, up 123.5% year-on-year.

As a key hub on the ancient Silk Road, the Khorezm Region boasts abundant agricultural resources and strong industrial potential. It is well-known for its cotton and wheat and has rapidly developing sectors in textiles, building materials, and agricultural processing.

This time, a delegation of entrepreneurs from Khorezm came to Chongqing with cooperative projects spanning agriculture, textiles, manufacturing, food, trade, new energy vehicles, and electromechanical equipment, engaging with nearly 80 local enterprises.

He Yi, Secretary of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chongqing Committee, delivered a speech.

He Yi, Party Secretary of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chongqing Committee, noted that Chongqing and Khorezm have highly complementary resources and industrial structures, creating broad prospects for cooperation. In March 2024, the two sides successfully held the “Chongqing–Uzbekistan Electromechanical Product Procurement Fair,” which resulted in multiple cooperation intentions. This forum not only extended the long-standing tradition of China-Uzbekistan cooperation but also injected new momentum into bilateral economic and trade relations in the new era.

In the future, CCPIT Chongqing will continue to work with the Khorezm Region to hold trade and investment promotion events and strengthen commercial legal cooperation. Efforts will be made to support businesses with efficient dispute resolution, risk prevention, and intellectual property protection, thereby improving the local business environment.
