On May 30, the press conference for the Environment Day 2025 was held in Chongqing. The 2025 National Environment Day and Beautiful China Awareness Week will take place in Chongqing. The events will center around four key themes: "Theoretical Innovation, Achievement Display, Service Development, and Participation of the Entire Society". The agenda includes the inaugural China Ecological Culture Forum, the National Environment Day event, the Chongqing Green and Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Industry Promotion Conference, and the Beautiful China Awareness Week.

Liu Qin, Deputy Director of the Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, announced that the inaugural China Ecological Culture Forum will kick off in the afternoon on June 4. Experts from the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will deliver keynote speeches, while the CPC Lishui Municipal Committee of Zhejiang Province and ecology and environment departments from regions such as Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, and Chongqing will share their experience. The Background Report on the Development of Ecological Culture in China will also be released during this forum.

The National Environment Day event will take place grandly on the morning of June 5, featuring an opening ceremony and promotional activities, encompassing 16 agenda items. The 2024 China Ecological Environment Report will be released, with themed exhibitions showcasing "Seeing Beautiful China from Here" highlighted, and advanced representatives of the 2024 "Beautiful China - I Am an Advocate" initiative will be honored. Certificates will be awarded to six special observers for their contributions to the ecological environment in 2025. The 11 provinces and cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt will jointly announce the "Co-protect Beautiful Yangtze River" initiative, launch volunteer activities, and hold a handover ceremony for the national event, accompanied by an ecological culture and art performance.

In the afternoon, the China Association of Environmental Protection Industry will collaborate with the Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau for the first time to host the Chongqing Green & Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Industry Promotion Conference, attracting over 130 domestic and international enterprises. The event will include the establishment ceremony for Chongqing's low-carbon environmental service industry cluster, as well as investment promotion activities, and is expected to lead to the signing of 17 projects worth approximately RMB 10.3 billion (approximately $ 1.43 billion).

"This year's National Event on the Environment Day and Beautiful China Awareness Week will highlight four aspects," Liu Qin remarked. "First, there will be a stronger emphasis on cultivating and promoting ecological culture, with prominent experts being invited to contribute ideas for 'Promoting Ecological Culture, Building Beautiful China' and the release of the Background Report on the Development of Ecological Culture in China. Second, we aim to tell the story of Beautiful China more effectively to the world. The events will invite leaders from relevant UN agencies, ambassadors, consuls in Chongqing, and foreign media journalists to experience the achievements of Beautiful China construction up close. Third, we will strengthen the implementation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy, collaborating with ecology and environment departments from 10 other provinces and cities along the belt to announce a joint action initiative and launch the 'Guard the Beautiful Yangtze: Volunteer with Me' campaign. Finally, we will emphasize high-level protection to support high-quality development by holding the Chongqing Green & Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Industry Promotion Conference, establishing a low-carbon environmental service industry cluster, and conducting investment promotions, leading to a series of cooperation agreements with domestic and international environmental protection firms."

The event is organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the General Office of the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.
