Chongqing – On World Environment Day (June 5th), the National Event was hosted in Chongqing  In the afternoon, the Green, Low-Carbon, and Eco-Friendly Industry Chongqing Promotion Event attracted over 130 enterprises  17 cooperation projects were signed on-site, representing a total investment of 10.34 billion yuan (about 1.438billion USD)  Simultaneously, the Chongqing Low-Carbon Environmental Services Agglomeration Zone was officially launched.

A list of 26 key eco-friendly industry projects and technology needs was also released at the Promotion Event, encompassing water treatment, air pollution control, soil remediation, solid waste management, and green and low-carbon initiatives. The total investment involved reaches 100.5 billion yuan.

The investment demand is largest in the green and low-carbon sector, approximately 31 billion yuan  This includes 17 zero-carbon industrial park projects focused on reducing carbon intensity, which require approximately 15 billion yuan, as well as green and low-carbon power grid construction, clean energy, and green power projects, which require approximately 15.5 billion yuan.

"Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period began, Chongqing has sustained an average annual economic growth rate of 5.6% with just a 2.4% average annual increase in energy consumption," stated YU Guodong, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, in his opening remarks  "Green and low-carbon development is a crucial task and the defining characteristic of high-quality development." He expressed confidence that the conference would strengthen exchanges and cooperation, opening broader prospects for joint efforts in ecological and environmental protection.
