The 2025 National Main Event for World Environment Day was held in Chongqing, with districts such as Shapingba, Jiulongpo, and Dazu organizing various outreach activities. These events showcased achievements in ecological and environmental protection, enhanced public awareness of ecological civilization, and encouraged citizens to actively participate in environmental protection efforts.
On June 3, the Shapingba District Bureau of Ecology and Environment, in collaboration with several local communities and organizations, launched the "Beautiful China Starts with Me" Volunteer River Patrol Awareness Campaign. Volunteers patrolled over 20 kilometers of waterways, addressing seven public concerns and distributing more than 4,000 educational materials. Moving forward, Shapingba will continue to strengthen its ecological awareness campaigns, expand its environmental volunteer teams, and organize diverse environmental protection activities to contribute to Chongqing’s sustainable development.
On June 5, Shapingba further hosted a public advocacy event in Xinqiao Population Culture Park, partnering with multiple government agencies and environmental organizations. Over 2,000 citizens participated in person, while online engagement reached over 5,000 interactions.

Dazu District’s 2025 World Environment Day Campaign extended its outreach into local schools, fostering an eco-friendly mindset among children through creative, hands-on activities.
At Longgang No. 1 Primary School, students engaged in a "Turn Waste into Treasure" competition, challenging them to transform discarded items into useful and aesthetically pleasing crafts. Guided by pre-event promotions via campus radio and themed class discussions, students eagerly collected materials ranging from plastic bottles and cans to old clothes and shoeboxes. Their imaginative creations included Miniature eco-homes crafted from repurposed cardboard, Space rockets ingeniously built from discarded plastic tubes, and more.
These activities provided a fun and educational experience, allowing students to embrace creativity, sustainability, and environmental awareness. By turning waste into artwork, children learned firsthand the value of recycling, planting the seeds for future ecological responsibility.
