Chongqing - From July 2-3, nearly 70 representatives from 11 foreign consulates, six overseas institutions, and 13 media outlets embarked on a unique journey to Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County via the newly opened Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed rail from the recently finished Chongqing East Railway Station. The event, "@Chongqing·@World - Ride the High-Speed Rail to Miao County - A Visit to Pengshui by Foreign Consulates and Overseas Institutions in Chongqing and Chengdu", showcased how ethnic culture and eco-industries drive rural revitalization.

At a crystal sweet potato noodle production base, Ms. Bahjin Ayesha Yap from the Philippine Consulate praised Pengshui's innovative approach,"Focusing on a special product like sweet potato and building an industrial chain around it, including tourism, is really smart!" Pengshui has transformed its traditional agriculture into a tech-powered, value-added industry, with products like organic sweet potato noodles gaining attention.

During a riverside forum, Ms. Birgit Murr from the Austrian Consulate in Chengdu highlighted Pengshui's agricultural potential: "The organic quality of Pengshui's specialty products is outstanding—this should be a key focus for future promotion." Officials and diplomats discussed cooperation opportunities in agro-processing, ethnic medicine, and cultural tourism.
Delegates visited Shiyu Village, where clean, picturesque landscapes demonstrated rural rejuvenation efforts, and the Miao Medicine Valley, where herbs like huangjing (Solomon's seal) are cultivated sustainably. At the Chongqing MiaoShu Agricultural Company, they learned how technology has upgraded the humble sweet potato into a high-value "golden chain" for local farmers.

As high-speed rail bridges distances, Pengshui's story—of ethnic heritage powering growth—is set to reach a global audience.
