BYD and Zhihu Launch Strategic Collaboration to Bridge Technology and Knowledge

Chongqing - Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD and Zhihu, China’s leading knowledge-sharing platform, have recently launched a strategic exchange themed around "Explaining Chinese Technology."

In a closed-door meeting, Hu Xiaoqing, General Manager of BYD's Yangwang, held discussions with Zhihu’s founder and CEO, Zhou Yuan, and his team. The dialogue focused on building a shared platform for technology-to-knowledge transformation and jointly fostering a popular science ecosystem.

According to Shangyou News, the partnership carries deeper implications for BYD’s push into the high-end vehicle market. Yangwang, BYD’s premium sub-brand, has already made a bold entry with its million-yuan U7 sedan featuring proprietary technologies.

A Bridging News reporter noted that BYD’s press events strongly emphasize hardcore tech innovation—evident at the Yangwang U7 launch, where lengthy segments were devoted to deep technical breakdowns.

While BYD is advancing its technological strategy—integrating its vehicle architecture with its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)—broader user understanding and acceptance of such technologies remain essential.

High-end market penetration requires technical breakthroughs and consumer recognition of the technology’s value. For BYD’s highly tech-driven products, complex technical terms like “YiSiFang” and “DiSus” often feel like inaccessible "code" to the average user, highlighting the urgent need for clear interpretation.

Through its partnership with Zhihu, BYD aims to reshape users' perceptions of technical value. Acting as a "technology translator," Zhihu leverages activities like its "Tech Thought Forums" to explain complex automotive technologies in relatable, everyday language. This enables users to move from simply “knowing that it works” to “understanding how it works.”

As Shangyou News reports, the significance of this cross-sector collaboration goes beyond BYD’s brand marketing. Amid the digital transformation of the auto industry, the synergy between technology and knowledge-sharing platforms offers a new path for engaging users. By turning complex technical content into accessible narratives, knowledge platforms help translate technological innovation into consumer value.
