Chengdu – On July 9, the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Chengdu received Deepal S09, an electric vehicle, purchased for official use, at the consulate entrance.
Tanvir Ahmad Bhatti, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Chengdu, explained that the decision was primarily based on brand recognition. He said that Deepal and its parent company, Changan Auto, are world-renowned companies and they have already set up a manufacturing unit in Pakistan, and their cars are very famous there.
Tanvir also noted Deepal’s reputation in the new energy vehicle sector. He said Deepal, as an NEV brand, is very famous in China, along with other state-owned brands.
Tanvir noted another reason was to highlight diplomatic friendship. He stated that the Deepal represents the brotherly relations between Pakistan and China.
“Due to these features, we selected Deepal as our official vehicle,” he said.
NEV is a key development priority for Pakistan. Tanvir said the government is actively working to expand charging infrastructure to attract brands like Deepal and BYD to the Pakistani market. “Many families in Pakistan can benefit from these new energy vehicles,” he said.
Hong Wei, Global Market General Manager of Deepal S09, highlighted the company’s progress in Pakistan. Hong stated that Deepal entered the Pakistani market in 2023 and successfully began deliveries of the Deepal S07 and Deepal L07 models in 2024. Currently, Deepal is still focusing on vehicle sales in the local market.
Looking ahead, Hong added that Deepal may further expand the local sales and service networks and even seek strong local partners for parts supply and broader industry collaboration.
