Chongqing—Chongqing's foreign trade showed strong momentum in the first half of 2025, with a total import and export value of 365.18 billion RMB (approximately 50.3 billion US dollars), a 7.6% year-over-year increase, according to the Chongqing Customs District.
Exports totaled 252.2 billion, an increase of 7%, while imports totaled 112.98 billion, an increase of 9.1%.

It's worth mentioning that Chongqing's international trade network has become more diverse. The ASEAN remained Chongqing's top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching 63.87 billion, up 17.5%. Trade with Belt and Road countries totaled 162.38 billion, a 3% increase. Trade with other RCEP members rose 2% to 103.94 billion. Notably, trade with Latin America grew 18%, and trade with BRICS and partner countries surged by 25.3%.
Electric vehicles (EVs), motorcycles, and mobile phones were key drivers of export growth. Mobile phone exports hit 26.14 billion, up 22.4%. Motorcycle exports grew 48.4% to 13.36 billion, while EV exports soared 53.3% to 5.55 billion.
Meanwhile, laptop exports remained robust at 72.92 billion, keeping Chongqing first place nationwide. Agricultural exports also climbed 14.5% to 860 million, the highest level in five years for the same period.
The number of foreign trade enterprises with actual import-export performance exceeded 4,000 for the first time, reaching 4,324, an increase of 511 from the previous year. Among them, private enterprises contributed 177.12 billion in trade, marking a significant 19.4% year-on-year growth.
