Chongqing - Chongqing officially launched its new cultural and tourism promotional slogan "Majestic Landscape Dynamic Chongqing" at a press conference on July 21st. Selected from over 100,000 submissions nationwide through multiple rounds of public solicitation, expert review, public voting, and refinement, the slogan captures the essence of Chongqing's natural and cultural identity.

Gao Lin, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, detailed the selection process. Initiated in December 2024, the campaign engaged participants from all provinces across China, attracting 3.5 million online voters and amassing over 100,000 entries. Big data analysis revealed "Chongqing" (over 70%) and "landscape" (42%) as dominant keywords, reflecting public recognition of the city's unique integration of mountains, rivers, and urban landscapes.

Guan Hong, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, elaborated on the slogan's meaning. "Majestic Landscape" embodies Chongqing's dramatic topography – featuring world-class wonders like the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges and the Wuling Mountains, where "half mountains and rivers, half city lights" create a unique urban fabric. It also signifies the city's 3,000-year cultural heritage, encompassing the Bayu culture, Three Gorges culture, and the enduring Red Rock Spirit. "Dynamic Chongqing" highlights the city's contemporary dynamism: its 2024 GDP exceeded 3.2 trillion yuan (447.36 billion USD), with the digital economy accounting for over 45% of GDP and comprehensive digital governance coverage. Renowned as the "Motorcycle Capital" and "Laptop Capital," the city's spirit of "Resilience, Valiance, Openness, Pioneering" fuels its development, shaping the image of a modern Chongqing.

Dubbed the "8D Magic City," Chongqing's distinctive scenery, urban vistas, and culinary culture draw global attention. It ranked 4th nationally for overseas online influence in 2024 and 3rd in the 2025 City Network Image Index. Chongqing pioneered the regular "Charming Chongqing" drone light show, setting a Guinness World Record with 11,787 drones. The shows have attracted over 4 million live viewers and garnered more than 3 billion online views.

In April, world-famous internet Influencer "IshowSpeed" did a live stream from Chongqing, reaching over 97.18 million overseas viewers and accumulating over 1.2 billion views globally. Plus, NBA superstar Stephen Curry will visit Chongqing this August. Plans include inviting him to experience the drone show, cruise the Two Rivers in the city center, and participate in interactive live streams.

Gao also outlined the city's strategy for high-quality cultural and tourism development. In the past six months, Chongqing welcomed 235 million domestic tourists (an 8.6% increase), generating tourism revenue of 34.85 billion USD (up 11.9%). Inbound tourists surged 77.2% to 923,000. Future efforts will focus on five key areas: developing nine premium routes including city center, Fairy Mountain and Jinfo Mountain, etc., fostering signature attractions such as the drone show and Dazu Rock Carvings; building cultural landmarks, advancing applications for UNESCO World Heritage status for sites like The Underwater Museum of White Crane Ridge; stimulating consumption through digital tourism experiences and upgrading the "360 Bowls of Chongqing Flavor" culinary brand; enhancing services via the "Enjoy Chongqing" smart platform and creating 15-minute quality living circles; and optimizing the market environment by cracking down on "unreasonably low-priced tours" and establishing a credit supervision system to solidify its reputation as the "most tourist-friendly city."
