"China, an Opportunity: Chongqing Brands" Promotion Event Held, Mountain City's Charms Shine on the Nile

CAIRO – The "China, An Opportunity: Chongqing Brands" promotion event in Cairo, a key part of the "Yangtze Meets the Nile" series, was successfully held on September 2nd local time. Guided by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government Information Office and the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, and hosted by the ​Western China International Communication Organization, the event drew over 200 representatives from Egypt's political, business, cultural, educational, and media sectors. They gathered to appreciate the unique urban charm, developmental vitality, and cooperation opportunities of Chongqing, a municipality in western China.

The event commenced with a modern and culturally rich Chongqing city promotional video featuring Bashu characteristics. Chen Dongyan, Director of the ​Western China International Communication Organization, delivered the keynote address in English, using the vivid concept "STAND" to brilliantly explain Chongqing's five core advantages to the attendees.

Chen Dongyan specifically introduced the key brands under the "China, An Opportunity: Chongqing Brands" series. These included the "International Exchange Center in Central and Western China" showcasing its open-mindedness, "Chongqing-Made - Yu Vehicles" representing its manufacturing strength, "Invest in Chongqing" and "Yu Goods Global" focusing on business opportunities, the unique "10 Signature Medicinal Herbs of Chongqing (Yu Shi Wei)" traditional Chinese medicine brand, as well as cityscape brands like "Beautiful Chongqing", "Mountain and Water Chongqing", "8D Magic Metropolis", food brands like "Taste Chongqing" and "360 Bowls of Chongqing Flavors (Yu Wei 360 Bowls)", and the "Study in Chongqing" brand highlighting educational vitality. She sincerely invited Egyptian friends to visit Chongqing, experience the city's developmental pulse, and share its opportunities.

​Culture, Tourism & Education: Building Bridges for People-to-People Bonds​

At the event, the "Hello! Chongqing" cultural tourism promotional video showcased the unique features of Chongqing as a "city of mountains and rivers, a place of beauty" with stunning visuals. Teng Nian, Representative of the Cairo China Cultural Center, highlighted Chongqing's rich cultural and tourism resources, from its magical modern metropolis and brilliant history to its grand landscapes and distinctive delicacies. This sparked intense interest among the guests in Chongqing, renowned as the "world's fastest-growing tourist city," "one of the top ten tourist destinations," and the "city that pampers tourists the most."

Educational cooperation achievements were a highlight. Professor Zhao Yufang, Vice President of Southwest University, introduced the university's academic achievements, characteristics of international education, and its cooperation results with Egypt. To date, Southwest University has educated 73 Egyptian students. The university has collaborated with Egypt's Ain Shams University on various programs, including a 2+1+1 undergraduate translation credit program and a special innovation and entrepreneurship camp for students in China. President Zhao warmly invited outstanding Egyptian students to study there, detailing the various scholarship policies and comprehensive support services available for international students.

Heartfelt sharing from two Egyptian alums resonated widely. Tartil Emam, a teacher at Ain Shams University, emotionally recalled her study life in Chongqing: "Chongqing was not just a place of study for me, but also my second home. Although the Yangtze River and the Nile flow on different lands, their waters convey the same message – civilizations thrive through mutual learning." Salma Ibrahem (Qiao Feier), founder of Chongqing Yu A Technology Co., Ltd., vividly illustrated how "Studying in Chongqing" led to "Opportunity Chongqing" through her personal experience. She expressed her deep fascination with Chongqing's unique landscape and vibrant life: "Whether it was the dazzling lights at the confluence of the two rivers at night or the bustling scenes at Liberation Monument and Hongya Cave, I experienced the optimistic, resilient, and enthusiastic character of Chongqing people. It was in such an inclusive and dynamic city that I completed my studies and also nurtured my entrepreneurial dreams."

​Industry & Brands: "Chongqing-Made" Shines in Egypt​

Changan Automobile is a representative of "Chongqing-Made." Ye Qian, Country Manager for Egypt at Changan Automobile Middle East & Africa Business Unit, introduced Changan's development history in the Egyptian market. She stated that since entering the Egyptian market in 2007, Changan has become one of the earliest Chinese auto brands in Egypt. Over the past 18 years, Changan has steadily advanced localized production with its strategic partner, the GB Auto Group, successfully launching the first locally produced CS55 Plus model in June of this year.

Ye Qian revealed that the company is working closely with its partner on the next CKD project, which is planned for launch next year. This month, Changan also successfully launched its new energy brand, Deepal, in Egypt, introducing two new models: the Deepal S07 and S05. She emphasized that through continuous investment in local manufacturing and R&D innovation, Changan will work with its partners to promote the development of Egypt's automotive industry and create lasting value for local customers.

​Immersive Experience of Bashu Culture: Chongqing Becomes a Desired Destination for Egyptians​

This event was not just a promotion but also an immersive cultural experience. The traditional Chinese medicine wellness exercises led by Chongqing intangible cultural heritage inheritor Liu Guangrui allowed guests to experience the wisdom of traditional Chinese health culture through gentle movements.

Multiple rounds of prize draws interspersed throughout the event repeatedly ignited the atmosphere. Lucky winners received generous prizes, including tickets to popular Chongqing attractions, distinctive cultural and creative gifts from Southwest University, exquisite Chang'an car models, and Yangtze River cruise tickets, taking a piece of the Mountain City's "heartfelt regards" home.

Even after the event concluded, the exhibition areas remained lively. Many Egyptian guests lingered, taking out their phones to search for more information about Chongqing. An Egyptian business representative said, "Today's event showed me a multi-dimensional, diverse, and opportunity-filled Chongqing. I very much hope to find cooperation opportunities in trade and investment." Several young attendees stated that Chongqing's magical 8D topography, cuisine, and unique culture were highly attractive to them and that they had already listed Chongqing as a key future travel destination.

The "China, An Opportunity: Chongqing Brands" promotion event in Cairo successfully presented a comprehensive overview of Chongqing to various sectors of Egyptian society through city promotion, industry displays, cultural experiences, and interactive exchanges. It effectively enhanced Chongqing's international visibility and influence, laying a solid foundation for deepening practical cooperation between Chongqing and Egypt in economic, trade, cultural, tourism, and educational fields, and writing a new chapter in the friendship between the Yangtze and the Nile.
