Chongqing - Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is expected to see a surge in inbound and outbound travel during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays from October 1 to 8.

The Chongqing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection announced on September 29 that the airport is expected to handle more than 400 international flights and over 55,000 passenger trips during the period, representing a 35% increase from the previous year.

Inbound travelers are expected mainly from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia. Outbound Chinese mainland residents will head largely to Thailand, Japan, Italy, Malaysia, and Singapore, with tourism, family visits, and business being the main purposes.

Passenger flow is forecast to peak for departures on October 1 and 2, and for arrivals on October 7 and 8, with daily crossings reaching about 8,500.

Liu Chengchao, deputy captain of the first duty team at the Chongqing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, said measures are being taken to ensure smooth customs clearance during the holiday rush.

These include enhancing risk warning and video supervision systems, completing immigration formalities in one go, and offering green channels for cold-chain and high-value cargo to achieve zero waiting time for special shipments.

Other measures include temporary entry permits for visa-free transit passengers with advance appointment, on-the-spot processing, and one-stop completion of formalities. Dedicated zones and counters have been set up for different types of travelers to improve clearance efficiency. The online entry card system has been optimized to allow foreign arrivals at Chongqing port to complete their forms online. Real-time passenger flow monitoring and dynamic deployment of inspection personnel are also in place to ensure efficient operations throughout the holiday period.
