15,000 Runners Hit the South Bin Road as 2025 Chongqing (Changjiahui) Half Marathon Ignites the City

ChongqingThe 2025 Chongqing (Changjiahui) Half Marathon commenced today. Fifteen thousand participants dashing off the start line at Haitang Yanyu Park on South Bin Road embraced the thrill of the race and experienced the city's rich historical and cultural charm. Certified by the China Athletics Association, the event was organized under the guidance of the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau and hosted by the Nan'an District People's Government.

The race kicked off promptly at 7:30 a.m., with officials including Yuan Guangcan, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, and Yu Xianbin, Deputy Secretary of the Nan'an District Committee and District Mayor, attending the starting ceremony.

​Running Through History and Modernity​

As a Class A event certified by the China Athletics Association, the half-marathon (21.0975 km) led runners through the core area of the Changjiahui scenic spot, famed for its relatively flat course and minimal elevation change along the Yangtze River with Nanshan Mountain as a backdrop. Participants passed historical sites like Longmenhao Old Street, Xiabolih Old Street, and the Kaibu Site Park, as well as modern landmarks including the Sheraton Twin Towers and the Yangtze River Cableway. The route showcased four ancient "Twelve Views of Old Bayu," offering an immersive journey through Chongqing's past and present.

​A Picturesque Autumn Race​

Cool river breezes provided ideal running conditions for the enthusiastic participants, who created a vibrant scene of energy and determination along the riverbank.

After an intense competition, Wang Wanfu claimed the men’s title with a time of 1:07:55, followed by Zhao Fuming (1:08:06) and Dai Zhiyong (1:08:18). In the women’s category, Fu Jiayi took first place in 1:18:48, with Ruan Shiying and Fang Kexin finishing second and third, respectively.

As part of the Chongqing International Marathon series, the Changjiahui Half Marathon is the only semi-event in China offering direct qualification to the main marathon. The top 500 male and female finishers earned a spot in the 2026 Chongqing Marathon. The event also introduced age group awards, with a total prize purse exceeding RMB 70,000 to inspire runners to push their limits.

​Comprehensive Support for a Smooth Event​

To ensure fairness, the race was overseen by six national referees appointed by the China Athletics Association and 76 local referees. A four-wave start was implemented to enhance the experience for both elite and recreational runners. A total of 2,936 volunteers from eight universities and community groups provided warm, professional support, embodying Chongqing’s distinctive hospitality.

Safety measures included over 1,350 security personnel, 210 medical staff, 50 first-aid pacers, and 265 emergency volunteers. A multi-tiered medical system featured five designated hospitals, 70 medical stations, 16 ambulances, and 77 AED devices, ensuring runners’ safety throughout the course.

​Showcasing Chongqing’s Vibrancy​

Located in the heart of Chongqing’s "Two Rivers and Four Banks" area, the Changjiahui course serves not only as a professional racing route but also as a dynamic showcase of the city. From serving as a venue for the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala to hosting stunning drone light shows, the area continues highlighting Nan'an’s modern, open, and energetic spirit. The half-marathon reinforced the "Discover the City by Race" and "Travel with Sports" initiatives, boosting the integration of sports, culture, and tourism.

Now in its fourth year, the Changjiahui Half Marathon has grown into a reputable event in southwestern China. It drives the development of public fitness and enhances Chongqing’s profile as a leading sports city.
