Chongqing — Several high-elevation townships in Yunyang County reported the first snowfall of the winter season on Nov. 17 as strong cold air continued to move south, according to local authorities. Snowfall was recorded in Shuangba, Nongba, Dayang, Sangping, and Qingshui townships, where mountains and forests quickly turned white as snow accumulated on branches and slopes. High-altitude areas took on a clean, bright appearance as the landscape shifted into winter.

At the Luogutang Scenic Area in Shuangba Township, the snowfall drew visitors who walked along snow-covered ridges and photographed the scenery. Snow settled on pine needles and shrubs, forming shapes that residents compared to ice blossoms, coral, and fans. From a distance, the interplay of fresh snow and low clouds made the mountain peaks appear partly veiled.

Tourists arriving throughout the day joined snowball fights and built snowmen. A visitor surnamed Li, who traveled with his family, said the scene felt vivid and memorable. “It has the grandeur of northern snow landscapes and the clarity of southern mountain views,” he said. “Snow on the green peaks and mist in the forests made the trip worthwhile.”
Visitors and photographers remained at the site despite low temperatures, capturing images of what many described as a rare winter landscape in the region.
