By ZENG, JUNXIANG|Dec 03,2025

Chongqing - On November 29, the "Where Lands Meet Seas International Volunteer Service Training" was successfully held at Chongqing University. This event brought together over 150 international students for an in-depth engagement in public welfare, including both theoretical training and practical learning.

With International Volunteer Day approaching and under multi-party collaboration, this training was hosted by the Society Work Department of the Shapingba Committee of Chongqing Municipality, Chongqing Luhai International Communication Foundation, and the Centre of International Students Mobility Service of Chongqing University, and organized by the Chongqing Charity Social Work Service Center and Western China International Communication Organization—the program aimed to empower international students to volunteer and share stories of China from a global perspective.

The theoretical part featured a model combining lectures and case studies. With the support of real-time AI translation, all participants were able to fully engage with the content. Experts explained global volunteering standards and shared practical methods for new media storytelling in this interconnected era. The program also emphasized the role of digital media, encouraging students to document and share their experiences on social platforms. "The lecture provided a lot of beneficial knowledge and I think it was a very good opportunity, not only to learn a lot of useful things, but also it was some chance to meet new people", said Damian Pawel Wunsz, international student at Chongqing University.

Consisted of six themed routes across the city, each practical segment was designed to combine cultural immersion with tangible impact. Students participated separately in dragon dance performances, riverside protection along the Jialing River, winter accessory knitting for children in the mountain area, a "Leave No Trace" hiking activity, trail maintenance in raptor habitats, and a charity market.

These activities were designed not only to serve, but also to connect to local communities, ecosystems, and cultural heritage. Through action, participants gained a deeper understanding of Chongqing's social and environmental landscape.
