Chongqing - The melodies of the Danube will meet the rhythms of Chongqing's two converging rivers this winter, as the acclaimed Wiener Symphoniker prepares for a performance in the city. Their 2026 New Year's Concert, presented by the Chongqing International Culture Association (CICA), is set to take place at the Chongqing Grand Theatre on December 27. Tickets are now available on major platforms, including damai, motianlun, maoyan, polyt, and piaoxingqiu.

Renowned for performances at the Musikverein, the Wiener Symphoniker has built a global reputation for artistic excellence since its founding in 1989. The ensemble, comprised largely of award-winning graduates from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, has toured extensively across more than 30 countries.

The concert program promises a blend of Viennese tradition and Chinese classics. The first half will feature beloved waltzes such as the Die Fledermaus Overture by Johann Strauss II, alongside Chinese pieces like Spring Festival Overture and Chinese Flower Drum. After intermission, the orchestra will perform stirring works, including Light Cavalry Overture, followed by vocal performances of Jasmine Flower and Vilja Lied by guest soloists. The evening will conclude on a triumphant note with the audience-favorite Radetzky March.

Leading the orchestra is celebrated European conductor Mason David Lubert, known for his collaborations with major ensembles such as the New York PhilharmonicEvgenii Artemenkov will perform on a priceless 1925 antique violin, valued at over 14 million USD. His technical mastery, recognized with multiple international awards, will be on full display.

"This concert is more than a musical event; it is a bridge connecting Chongqing to world-class cultural experiences," said a representative from the association. "It reflects our commitment to enriching the city's cultural landscape and showcasing its open, vibrant spirit."

As the year draws to a close, audiences in Chongqing are invited to usher in the new year with an unforgettable symphony experience.
