Chongqing - Chongqing's mid-winter is known for its dense fog, muted daylight, and humid chill. But this year, a burst of color and warmth has transformed the season in the city's urban centre. Since November, the Dream on Air Project and Liangjiang Industry have jointly launched the "Live for Now Exhibition" at Yuxing Square. The exhibition invites local craftswomen to dress the city's winter trees in handcrafted works.
One of the project's highlights is a series of wool-felt "tree coats" created by Chongqing craftswoman Miao. Soft, furry, and vividly textured, her pieces wrap the trunks like warm winter garments, introducing a playful visual language to the grey season.
Another eye-catching installation comes from craft artist Shuang, whose signature "New Money Dolls" offer passers-by bright colors and exaggerated open-armed poses to interact with. Dressed in fresh outfits, these figures deliver a warm hug to the city. Locals gather to take photos with them, appreciating them as an emblem of Chongqing's humor, resilience, and joy.
The exhibition not only enlivens winter streets but also celebrates the creativity of local makers. By dressing the city's trees with creative, handcrafted art, the exhibition brings vitality to the season and provides a charming cityscape for Chongqing's everyday urban life.
