Chongqing - As winter sets in, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is expanding services and offering discounted fares to popular southern China destinations, while boosting capacity on selected international and regional routes.
For the winter season, the airport has partnered with multiple airlines to prioritize destinations known for milder climates, coastal scenery, and relaxed city breaks. The aim is to offer travelers more flight options and more accessible pricing during the colder months.
Hainan remains the strongest draw. Chongqing’s routes to Haikou and Sanya continue to see heavy demand, with the two destinations together operating around 18 flights per day in winter. Promotional one-way fares start at 470 yuan to Haikou and 550 yuan to Sanya, positioning the island province as a convenient choice for beach-focused winter travel.
Yunnan is another major destination, favored for its sunshine and generally mild winter weather. Chongqing operates about 26 flights per day to cities across Yunnan, with one-way fares starting from 230 yuan.
Airport officials said these domestic routes are designed for travelers seeking flexible schedules and short breaks, emphasizing seaside climates and city-based leisure trips that do not require long itineraries.

International and regional services are also being expanded as Chongqing continues to strengthen its overseas air network. This year, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport launched new routes to Brussels, Moscow, Auckland, Kuching, Kaohsiung, and Yangon, providing more winter travel options beyond domestic destinations.
Flight frequencies have also been increased on several high-demand regional routes, including Seoul, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Hong Kong, improving schedule flexibility for both leisure and business travelers.
In addition to added capacity, ticket promotions have been extended to international and regional flights. One-way direct fares, including taxes, start from 600 to 700 yuan for routes to Hong Kong, Hanoi, and Bangkok. Tax-included one-way fares to Kuala Lumpur, Macao, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, and Ho Chi Minh City have dropped to under 1,000 yuan.
The airport expects the combination of expanded flight schedules and lower fares to support steady winter passenger traffic, as travelers weigh short domestic getaways against a growing range of overseas options departing directly from Chongqing.
