The event is a flagship program under the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Group's efforts to develop globally recognizable cultural tourism IPs. Co-hosted by Florentia Village Chongqing and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, the season blended cutting-edge projection art with an internationally oriented competition, turning the venue into a vibrant nighttime destination for residents and tourists alike.
Organizers said the competition reached top international standards in both scale and visitor experience. In the final round, 23 shortlisted works from 14 countries—including China, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia—were presented. Using digital creativity and advanced projection technologies, participating artists transformed building facades into moving, story-driven canvases, delivering striking audiovisual spectacles and an imaginative showcase of contemporary light-and-shadow art.

A judging panel of 11 leading experts from China and abroad assessed the entries across multiple professional criteria and selected winning projects representing the field's highest level of craft and innovation. The award-winning pieces were designed to blend seamlessly with the site's Italian-style architecture, creating an immersive "art-meets-retail" experience where visitors could enjoy shopping and entertainment while stepping into large-scale public artworks.
In her remarks, Yang Jing, Party committee member and vice general manager of Chongqing Culture and Tourism Group, said Chongqing—an important national central city—is stepping up efforts to build an international consumption hub and a globally known tourism destination. She noted that light art has become a powerful tool for boosting the nighttime economy, unlocking new drivers of growth, and strengthening the city's cultural appeal.
Yang added that the season reflects the group's commitment to building signature cultural-tourism brands that highlight Chongqing's identity as a mountain-and-river metropolis. By deepening the integration of light-and-shadow art, digital creativity, and the culture-and-tourism industry, the program aims to develop more diversified consumer scenarios and immersive retail experiences, injecting fresh momentum into Chongqing's drive to become an international consumption center.

"Chongqing's night view is one of its most compelling calling cards, and its culture runs deep," Yang said. She added that the group will continue to incubate and operate light-and-shadow IPs through licensing, merchandise development, and cross-sector partnerships—building a sustainable ecosystem that links IP creation with cultural, commercial, and tourism integration, and helping Chongqing's light-and-shadow brand reach a wider international audience.
