Chongqing - AboFlah, a Middle Eastern social media superstar with more than 70 million followers, recently embarked on a sensory and philanthropic journey through the megacity of Chongqing, documented in the latest episode of the popular series "Youtubers in Chongqing."
The visit offered a deep dive into the city's unique culture, beginning with one of its most iconic—and quirky—photo opportunities: pretending to "swallow" the Liziba monorail. Host Julius then guided his guest into the heart of Chongqing's culinary identity: hot pot. At a specialized hot pot museum, AboFlah explored the history of the málà (numbing and spicy) flavor profile. "Let's eat spicy food," he said while learning about the legacy of Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers. The lesson was soon put to a fiery test as he sampled an extremely spicy hot pot. "Not a big deal," he laughed.
True to Chongqing's mountainous character, the next challenge involved climbing the steep stairways of the historic Mountain City Alley. AboFlah also tried carrying a Bang Bang pole, traditionally used by Chongqing porters to transport goods through the city's hilly streets, and humorously described the experience as "easy peasy."
The journey blended adventure with philanthropy. Known for his charitable work, AboFlah visited a local primary school, where he donated books and learning materials to students, continuing his long-standing commitment to giving back.
Overlooking the city's breathtaking skyline from a high vantage point, AboFlah was visibly moved. "I feel that I am in my home, my beautiful town. China, I love you so much," he said, reflecting on the connection he felt during the visit.
The episode showcased Chongqing's vibrant character—its bold flavors, dramatic landscape, and warm community spirit—to AboFlah's massive global audience, offering another example of how authentic cultural experiences can help build bridges across borders.
