Chongqing — A community Cooling Station in Chongqing offered chilled Tianfu Cola and bottled water to outdoor workers on Aug. 13 as part of the Cool Summer With Yu public welfare campaign.

At 10 a.m., volunteers at the Jianbei Community Party and Public Service Center prepared canned Tianfu Cola and bottled water for delivery riders and other outdoor workers.

The event was jointly organized by Jianbei Community, Tianfu Cola and Zoann Environmental Services. It was part of the Cooling Stations public welfare initiative, which provides free drinks and a place for outdoor workers to rest during the summer heat.

In addition to bottled drinks, the station featured a chilled-drink area. Volunteers poured Tianfu Cola into coffee cups, added ice and handed the drinks to delivery and courier riders for quick pickup.

“The weather is so hot, and a cold cola is really refreshing,” said Gao Hui, a Meituan delivery rider. After finishing his drink, he took several photos and shared them in his work group chat.

The message soon spread among other delivery riders. Some arrived by electric scooter after completing deliveries, while others stopped briefly to pick up drinks. Volunteers handed out refreshments and reminded them to drink slowly.

“I was making deliveries nearby and came over when I saw the message,” one delivery worker said after receiving a cup of chilled cola. “It’s refreshing and gives me more energy to continue making deliveries.”

By noon, the 100 cases of bottled water and 20 cases of Tianfu Cola donated for the event had been distributed. Delivery riders from Meituan, JD.com and Taobao Instant Commerce, as well as passing sanitation workers, received the supplies.

The donations were supported by a coordinated transportation effort. The previous week, the bottled water and canned cola were loaded at Tianfu Cola’s Mudong factory in Banan district and transported to a transfer station in Zhaomushan for storage. Early Aug. 13, the supplies were transported from there to Jianbei Community by Zoann Environmental Services.

“Our community is located at Longfor Paradise Walk, and many delivery riders pass through every day,” said Yang Wenlin, secretary of the Jianbei Community Party Committee. “They travel through the streets and alleys every day and know the community well. They are an important force that can contribute to community governance.”

“We hope activities like this can help riders regard the community as their own home,” Yang said.

Liu Heng, a marketing promotion specialist with Tianfu Cola, said the Chongqing-based brand hopes to give back to society.

“We will continue to participate in public welfare activities and fulfill our responsibilities as a local company, so that this brand can retain both its connection to everyday life and its sense of social responsibility.”
