Rail-Sea Intermodal Brings Ethiopian Coffee Directly to Chongqing丨Video

By LI YUE|Sep 11,2026

ChongqingA few days ago, a shipment of specialty Ethiopian green coffee beans arrived at Tuanjie Village Central Station via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor rail-sea intermodal service. This marks the first time Ethiopian coffee beans have been imported directly to Chongqing under the "one-container-to-the-end" rail-sea intermodal model.

Fan Wushuang, deputy general manager of Landport Hub (Chongqing) Economic and Trade Co., Ltd., said the coffee beans were directly imported from Ethiopia by the park’s trading arm. The shipment, worth over two million yuan, marks both the company’s first rail-sea intermodal delivery to Tuanjie Village and the first Ethiopian coffee bean import handled by Chongqing Railway Port.

For international suppliers, the new route offers a faster way to reach China's inland markets. Ethiopian coffee beans no longer need to rely only on traditional coastal distribution channels before reaching western China.

The coffee beans departed from Ethiopia, and arrived at Qinzhou Port in Guangxi after 27 days at sea. They were then seamlessly transferred to a New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor train, reaching Tuanjie Village Station in Chongqing in just 2 days—cutting more than 10 days off the traditional route.
