Madrid, Spain - Chongqing's Banan District was presented as a local practice example of Chinese modernization at an international symposium in Madrid, highlighting how grassroots development, urban-rural integration and industrial growth are reflected at the local level.

The "Dialogue Between Chinese and Western Civilizations in the New Era: The Global Significance of Chinese Modernization" international symposium was held on September 26 at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium in Madrid, Spain, during the annual meeting of the Communist Party of Spain.

At the event, Lu Duoxiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Banan District Committee and head of its Publicity Department, introduced Banan's development experience to Chinese and international guests, focusing on grassroots governance, urban-rural integration and high-quality development.

Located in southwest Chongqing, Banan is the only district in Chongqing's central urban area selected as a national pilot zone for urban-rural integrated development. It is also among China's first pilot areas for digital village development.

The district features a landscape of mountains, rivers, and farmland, with a forest coverage rate of 49.48% and 60 kilometers of the Yangtze River shoreline. It also has a complete automotive and motorcycle industry chain. Motorcycle production in Banan accounts for nearly 20% of Chongqing's total, while Zonsen Motorcycle ranks first in China in production and sales. In addition, Chongqing International Biological City has gathered key national-level platforms in the biopharmaceutical sector.

During the presentation, Banan's development experience was introduced as a local example of how modernization concepts are applied through concrete practices.

The event also featured the "2026 Land-Sea Reading · Chongqing Cultural Interactive Exhibition," which showcased Chongqing's cultural resources and publishing achievements through displays, physical exhibits, and interactive experiences.

Banan presented a range of cultural and creative products, including Chongqing's municipal intangible cultural heritage Yudong thread embroidery and leaf painting, Jinghui Ceramics and Babahu cultural products, as well as local tea and hotpot seasoning from Huafang Village. The exhibits attracted Chinese and international guests to experience local craftsmanship, cultural products, and regional specialties.
