Digital content industries are a key focus of Yuzhong’s plans to develop new businesses around its cultural heritage and urban attractions. Four planned industry parks will support animation and gaming, audiovisual production and digital creative businesses.

An animation and gaming park will offer 40,000 square meters for game development, animation production, and businesses that bring Chinese cultural content to overseas markets. The Hualongqiao International Audiovisual Industry Park will focus on short-form drama production and multichannel network (MCN) operations.

Two additional parks, in Tiaohuachang and Chuangxiang Town, will support digital content production, creative business incubation, and the commercialization of creative work. Chuangxiang Town will also bring together young digital creators and creative businesses.

Supporting plans include centers for AI-generated content production, original intellectual property development and independent game development. The district also aims to strengthen access to computing resources, talent and copyright services.

Yuzhong has updated 11 industry support policies covering tourism, cultural and creative industries, artificial intelligence, and international consumption. It will make more than 200 million yuan available annually to support industry development.

Regional partnerships broaden tourism links

Yuzhong signed tourism cooperation agreements with 10 partner jurisdictions, including Beijing’s Huairou District, Zunyi in Guizhou Province, three districts in Chengdu and Yizhou District in Hami, Xinjiang.

The partners plan to jointly promote travel routes, share tourism resources, encourage visitor flows between destinations and develop shared tourism brands. Their cooperation will strengthen the Sichuan–Chongqing cultural tourism corridor and promote links between destinations associated with the Yangtze River and the Great Wall.

They also signed agreements for more than 10 projects spanning digital tourism, sports, cultural heritage and inbound tourism.

Among them, a strategic partnership between Yuzhong’s culture and tourism authority and Hebei University’s Center for Song History Studies will support the conservation and public presentation of the Laogulou government office archaeological site. The partners will also conduct historical and cultural research and explore ways to apply archaeological findings to heritage conservation and interpretation.

Updated itineraries connect local attractions and regional destinations

The district introduced five local itineraries and five cross-regional routes, offering visitors options for short stays in Yuzhong and longer trips to partner destinations.

The local itineraries cover museums and educational travel, arts and fashion, sports and wellness, traditional performing arts, and intangible cultural heritage. They connect attractions such as the Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum, the Shibati historic neighborhood, and Huguang Guild Hall.

The cross-regional routes link Yuzhong with destinations including Chengdu, Zunyi, Huairou, Hami and other parts of Chongqing. Their themes include historic travel routes, revolutionary history, river connections and inbound tourism.

Together, the itineraries are intended to encourage visitors to explore more of Yuzhong and travel between partner destinations, supporting joint tourism promotion and regional cooperation.

Addressing the conference, Xie Dong, secretary of the Yuzhong District Committee of the CPC, described the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030) as a key stage for advancing the integrated development of culture, tourism and sports in the district.

He called for development that combines Yuzhong's historic identity and mountain-and-river setting with digital creativity, international appeal and improved visitor experiences.
