For many villagers, the big questions are how to sell more local produce and attract more visitors to the countryside. In Heping Village in Dazu, Chongqing, village Party secretary Qiu Zhihong, known to locals as "Secretary Xiao Qiu”, is taking an unconventional approach. Through short videos, he plays an over-the-top, CEO-style character that has made him a talking point online. But going viral was never the goal. From promoting local produce and experimenting with livestream sales to bringing tourists into the village, he’s working to turn online attention into real income for local residents, hoping to help build a better future for his village. In this episode, let’s see how “Secretary Xiao Qiu” is using short videos to attract attention, open up new markets for local farm products, and find new ways for rural revitalization.
