Chongqing- Chongqing's total foreign trade value reached 800.6 billion yuan (about 126.1 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021, a record high, according to statistics released by the Chongqing Customs District yesterday. With a 22.8% increase from 2020, the city has remained double-digit growth rate since 2018.

The value of exports amounted to 516.83 billion yuan (about 81.35 billion U.S. dollars), up 23.4%, while the value of imports totaled 283.23 billion yuan (about 44.58 billion U.S. dollars), a rise of 21.7% to 2020.

In the import and export value, Chongqing ranked 2nd place in western China, accounting for 22.5% of the region's total. Besides, it contributes the most to foreign trade growth in the western region.

Chongqing's export value of laptops and motorcycles ranks 1st in China

Among all commodities, laptops and oil-fueled motorcycles ranked 1st domestically in the export value.

In 2021, the city's export value of laptops totaled 200.09 billion yuan (about 31.5 billion U.S. dollars), ranking 1st in China for the third consecutive year.

The export value of integrated circuits and tablet computers reached 36.5 billion and 22.79 billion yuan (about 3.59 billion U.S. dollars), jumped 54.4% and 52.6%, respectively.

In the same period, the export value of oil-fueled motorcycles expanded by 37.5% to 14.67 billion yuan (about 2.31 billion U.S. dollars), ranking 1st in the country.

In addition, the export value of automobiles surged 110% to 12.32 billion yuan (about 1.94 billion U.S. dollars), which ranked 5th in China.

E-port user authentication service in Sichuan and Chongqing

The customs districts of Sichuan and Chongqing jointly launched the service mode of "Sichuan-Chongqing customs-bank key integration" in 2021, allowing the e-port user authentication service to be offered either in Sichuan or Chongqing, according to Wang Honghan, deputy commissioner of Chongqing Customs District P.R.China.

Chongqing and Sichuan have implemented mutual recognition of supervision. That promoted the traffic value of "Chongqing Port - Yibin Port" as well as "Chongqing Port - Luzhou Port," with the amount reaching 11,225 and 1,575 TEUs respectively in 2021.

They have also jointly carried out disease control for giant pandas coming back from Canada, and shared the quarantine centers for animals entering China.

Next, Chongqing Customs will advance the water-water and rail-sea multi-modal transport, supporting international airport cooperation with Sichuan, and expanding China Railway Express's brand effect (Chengdu-Chongqing). 

Implementation of quick customs clearance

In cooperation with Urumqi Customs, Chongqing Customs became the first to implement quick customs clearance for China Railway Express in China. The operation time of clearance has been reduced by four hours on average.

In addition, Chongqing Customs has supported enterprises to get the first single bill of lading from China International Freight Forwarders Association nationwide. 

The duration of container transit via multi-modal transport was shortened by 48 hours. Besides, the fixed transport price via Chongqing-Beibu Gulf-Singapore rail-sea channels was lowered to 1,200 U.S. dollars/TEU. 

In 2021, the Y-shaped nodes of the three international logistics corridors, namely, China Railway Express (Chongqing), the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), gave full play to their advantages. Chongqing Customs supervised 2,273 China-Europe freight trains, 2,059 trains along the ILSTC, and 1,191 ships along the Shanghai-Chongqing fast water transport channel, according to Wang.
