Chongqing Shares Experience in Cross-border E-commerce with Mexico

Chongqing - Chongqing Technology and Business University offers cross-border e-commerce and digital economy training program for Mexico's middle and senior managers. The program opened online via a live streaming session on June 6 and will last for over a month.

Carlos Castillo, Director General of Planning and Evaluation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, said, "Our sales on the e-commerce platform saw a 27 percent increase last year, which is the most dynamic sector of the Mexican economy."

He continued, "We also noticed that China is still the leading country in e-commerce and digital economy, and it is also developing very rapidly. We look forward to making full use of such a training program to learn more advanced experience and technology from China, to gather pace to develop e-commerce and digital economy in Mexico."

H. E. Jesús Seade, Mexican Ambassador to China, said that Chongqing proved that it attached great importance to developing cooperation with Mexico. "There can be more high-quality technical cooperation and experience exchange activities between China and Mexico," Seade said, "contributing to China-Mexico relations' high-quality and deep-level and multi-field development."

Wang Wen, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, said, "This year marks the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. Under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the total import and export volume between Chongqing and Mexico still maintained a growth trend."

In 2021, the import and export volume between Chongqing and Mexico reached 12.85 billion yuan ($1.93 billion), an increase of 6.1 percent, of which the export value reached 11.88 billion yuan, an increase of 20.1 percent.

"We hope that we will build a platform for long-term cooperation between enterprises related to big data, cross-border e-commerce, and digital economy from Chongqing and Mexico through this project," said Wang Wen. 

After the inauguration, 26 middle and senior managers from Mexico attended the first online class on the overview of Chongqing's economic development.
