By ZHAN CHEN|Sep 02,2022

Chongqing- On August 29, 108 sea-rail container trains left Guangxi Qinzhou Port Station to Chongqing Tuanjie Village Station loaded with trunkings from Haiphong, Vietnam, and polyester slices, coconut juice, and other goods from Hainan, China, marking the 20,000th sea-rail container train on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC).

With Chongqing Municipality as the operation center and the western provinces and cities as critical nodes, the ILSTC uses rail, highway, sea transportation, and other modes of transportation to reach worldwide.

The ILSTC plays a prominent role in the Belt and Road, connecting to both the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, becoming a powerful engine of economic development domestically and globally.

Thanks to inter-provincial cooperation and co-construction, the ILSTC's radiation range has been continuously expanded to 111 stations in 59 cities spread across 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).

Transportation categories have grown from initial ceramics, plates, and a few dozen species to auto parts, computer accessories, new energy vehicles, and more than 640 categories, reaching 335 ports in 113 countries and regions worldwide.

Despite pressures from a complicated and grim economic situation and the COVID-19 pandemic, the service scope of the ILSTC extends from the western region to central and northern China, providing logistics guarantees for the economic development of the central and western regions.

At the beginning of the year, the first sea-rail intermodal train of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - Qinzhou - Lanzhou was launched for imported cars. Several sea-rail intermodal trains, such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - Beibu Gulf Port - Henan or Hebei and Xi'an - Beibu Gulf Port, were opened.

Especially since this year, the import and export trade has strengthened with RCEP and the pilot tax refund policy for land ports of departure.

From January to July this year, the ILSTC shipped 92,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of foreign trade products, up 52% from the same period last year in 2021.

Economic and trade exchanges between China and the 14 RCEP member countries have flourished this year. RCEP member countries shipped 42,000 TEUs of foreign trade goods via ILSTC between January and July, accounting for 45% of foreign trade shipments.

Due to increasing production and supply chain logistics, the brand effect of the ILSTC continues to expand, allowing more customers to choose the ILSTC to export their products worldwide.
