Chongqing- To improve industrial energy efficiency and promote green, low-carbon development, the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission and other municipal departments jointly formulated the Action Plan of Chongqing Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement recently. 

The plan is aimed to realize the overall improvement of energy efficiency in the city's steel, petrochemical, and other industries by 2025 and to reduce energy consumption per unit of added value in industrial enterprises above the designated size by 14.5% compared to 2020.

Carrying out more energy-saving innovation

Specifically, Chongqing will see comprehensive improvement in its energy efficiency in key industrial sectors and data centers and a significant increase in treen and low-carbon energy utilization by 2025.

This will be done through widely used energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing processes, technologies, equipment, and products; the energy efficiency of critical products in sectors, including iron and steel, petrochemicals, non-ferrous metals, and building materials, will reach the advanced international level.

Chongqing plans to improve energy efficiency in key industries, highlighting energy-using fields. It will accelerate the promotion of advanced technologies, equipment, and processes based on classification guidance.

Also, the level of energy efficiency will be systematically improved, including the green upgrade of energy efficiency and efficiency upgrades in synergy across industries and fields.

In terms of boosting the efficiency of energy-consuming equipment systems, Chongqing will focus on general-purpose energy equipment, including motors, transformers, and boilers, to increase the application of energy-efficient equipment, and carry out the energy-saving renovation.

By 2025, the proportion of new energy-efficient motors will reach more than 70%, and the ratio of new energy-efficient transformers will reach more than 80%.

Financial funds to improve industrial energy efficiency

In enterprise parks, Chongqing will promote industrial enterprises and parks to strengthen the management of energy consumption in the whole chain, dimensions, and process.

Chongqing is committed to promoting energy-saving in large and medium-sized enterprises and the industrial and supply chain's comprehensive energy efficiency. By 2025, the proportion of energy-efficient capacity in key industries will exceed 30%, and 20 municipal energy-efficiency leading companies will be selected.

As Chongqing works on digital energy efficiency, it will leverage digital technology to empower industrial energy efficiency. An energy management and control system with state perception, real-time analysis, scientific decision-making, and precise execution will be constructed, boosting production methods' digital and green transformation. 

Furthermore, Chongqing will continue to increase the supply quality of energy conservation technology, equipment, and products and develop energy conservation services. That's how it hopes to cultivate advantages in the green growth of the manufacturing industry. 

Chongqing will actively develop green finance and make good use of carbon emission reduction tools to support the plan. For example, it will leverage existing financial and government investment funds to improve industrial energy efficiency and implement tax incentives, including energy and water conservation. It will increase government procurement of green products and support the application of qualified green and low-carbon technology and equipment.
