Chongqing - The first “Bashu Craftsman” Rural Revitalization Technology & Skills Competition was held in Chongqing, China, from March 17 to 19. 

The event in Yongchuan District featured 20 competition projects, including 17 skill-based projects and three professional technical projects. The latter focused on agricultural production and covered areas such as intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) engineering, and virtual reality (VR) engineering.

In the intelligent manufacturing competition, participants mainly compete on their ability to design, install, commission, and control intelligent manufacturing equipment. 

For the virtual reality engineering competition, participants must design their own application forms and interactive functions based on the proposal’s content, as well as complete scene construction and functional development. 

The artificial intelligence engineering competition requires participants to be highly proficient in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision application.

After one and a half days of competition, the teams from Yongchuan District in Chongqing won the first prize in 3 professional technical projects. The teams from Jiulongpo District, Liangjiang New Area, Yuzhong District, Changshou District, Banan District, Hechuan District, as well as Mianyang, Suining, and Neijiang of Sichuan Province, also performed well in the professional technical competition. 

Emerging industries such as smart manufacturing and artificial intelligence have a high demand for digital talent. Digital technology is also needed to support traditional agriculture, medicine, and manufacturing industries.

In order to accelerate the digitization of traditional industries and support the high-quality development of emerging industries, Chongqing launched the training of digital technology engineer teachers and big data engineering technicians trainees in May last year, issued the first batch of teacher training certificates nationwide, and carried out professional evaluation and assessment of big data.

The Chongqing Human Resources Development Service Center will continue to provide high-level digital talents for professional and technical events while promoting the implementation of the digital technology engineer training program, thereby creating a digital engine for the high-quality development of rural revitalization in Chongqing.
