By YAN DENG|Apr 21,2023

On April 16, the prestigious 2022 Chongqing Art Copyright Season, themed "IP·Create a Future," held its much-anticipated award ceremony and works exhibition at the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum's Three Gorges Cultural Relics Science and Technology Protection Base. Showcasing over 600 original works, the event captured the essence of Chongqing's unique elements and celebrated the city's spirit of unity, collaboration, and determination.

At the first-floor gallery of the Base, the professional group's gold award winner, HSMM 2097, reimagines ants as adorable and stylish creatures, breaking away from the conventional depiction of ants with tiny limbs. This striking work symbolizes the resilience and unity of the people of Chongqing in their fight against high temperatures, wildfires, and the 2022 epidemic.

The silver award winner, Yiqi 023, is rich in symbolism. The "0" represents the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the "2" signifies the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers nurturing Chongqing together, and the "3" alludes to the city's steadfast pursuit, embodied by the towering, verdant mountains that stretch across Chongqing.

Upstairs in the second-floor exhibition hall, youthful pieces like I Love Chongqing and City Guardian overflow with imagination and whimsy, reflecting the deep affection that young artists have for their hometown.

The diverse collection features Chinese paintings, oil paintings, printmaking, cartoons, sketches, line drawings, gouache paintings, watercolors, mixed media, and children's art. Some works pay tribute to modern-day heroes through ant-inspired portrayals, others highlight ordinary people's everyday acts of kindness, and others showcase the regional beauty and traditions unique to Chongqing.

The "IP·Create a Future" 2022 Chongqing Art Copyright Season, co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Chongqing Copyright Administration, Chongqing Education Commission, and Chongqing Intellectual Property Office, aims to encourage innovation and creation in Chongqing's copyright field. The event fosters a culture of "respecting the originality and protecting copyright" while enhancing the city's creative and intellectual property landscape.

As a significant component of the "Tasty Chongqing" campaign, the event highlights Chongqing's unique aesthetic value and cultural identity, boosting the city's allure.

A representative involved in organizing the event explained that the three main themes are "Ant Images and Spiritual Implications," "Stories of Dinosaurs," and "Eagle City." Most submissions closely adhered to these themes, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and inventive ideas and a strong commitment to originality and individuality. This dedication demonstrates the participants' heightened awareness of copyright creation and intellectual property protection. Of the 12,723 entries evaluated, more than 1,000 were registered for copyright, with some boasting significant commercial potential.

After several rounds of rigorous selection, 300 exceptional creative award winners and 288 outstanding copyright award winners emerged. The professional group's judging panel was led by Xiong Chao, Visual Director of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, and Duan Shengfeng, Vice President of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The panel of higher education and adolescent groups consisted of art experts, children's art education specialists, and distinguished art teachers.
