The recall covers parts of imported Model S, Model X and Model 3 vehicles, as well as Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced in China between Jan. 12, 2019, and April 24, 2023, according to a statement filed with the State Administration for Market Regulation.

The vehicles involved do not have regenerative braking strategy options for users, nor do they provide sufficient warnings if drivers step on the accelerator pedal for long periods of time. Such failures could increase the risk of collision, the statement said.

Tesla will deploy an over-the-air software update to address the issue, according to the statement.
