Now in its second year, the contest is a joint initiative by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and the Australian Tourism Bureau.

As for its first edition last June, the competition sparked enthusiastic participation, with officers delivering a vivid representation of Chongqing and Australia's unique cultural and tourism offerings. The successful collaboration led to the signing of a cooperation memorandum, creating the "Chongqing Meets Australia" brand.

"Through the 'Chongqing Meets Australia' Youth Promotion Officer Competition, we aspire to create a festive cultural and tourism exchange atmosphere. We hope this event serves as a model for fostering cooperative relations between Chongqing and Australia," said Qin Dingbo, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development.

Chen Xinyu, a notable participant in last year's activities, shared her enriching experience in the competition, "Being a part of this event deepened my understanding of Australia and, at the same time, deepened my appreciation for Chongqing as my hometown."

In the coming two months, the contestants will go to the Wulong World Natural Heritage Site to gain a deeper appreciation for both Wulong and Australia's culture and tourism features. This will be accomplished through themed presentations, preliminary competitions, on-site promotions in Wulong, and the final competition. All of these will be conducted in English to promote international understanding.

In support of this cultural exchange, representatives from the Australian Tourism Bureau and the Australian Consulate General in Chengdu will visit Wulong, immersing themselves in the local experience. The organizers have also arranged enticing prizes to motivate increased youth participation, with the top three winners receiving round-trip tickets to Australia for an all-expenses-paid trip.

Qin Dingbo expressed a strong hope for continued cooperation with overseas institutions in China, including those connected to Chongqing. The commission aims to build more brand IPs, broaden the scope of the "Chongqing Meets Different Countries" brand, and contribute effectively to transforming Chongqing into a hub for International Exchanges in Central and Western China.
