Chongqing - The first member meeting of the Higher Education Branch of Chongqing Council for Brand Development and the founding meeting of the Higher Education Working Committee of Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries was held recently at Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies. Representatives from 55 universities and colleges in Chongqing and guests attended the event.
According to the introduction, establishing the Higher Education Working Committee of Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries is the last step in systematically boosting comprehensive cooperation between Chongqing and SCO countries in education and completing the international education alliance. Prior to the Higher Education Working Committee, working committees and cooperation platforms like education services, fundamental education, higher education, and high-end think tank alliance of education systems have been established successively.
Education Working Committee of Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries is jointly set up by 55 universities and colleges in Chongqing, such as Southwest University, Southwest University of Political Science & Law, Sichuan International Studies University, and Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies. It will carry out international cooperation in building think tanks between China and SCO countries, fundamental research, scientific innovation, integration of industries and education, talent cultivation, and cultural exchanges to advance synergistic development of Chongqing and countries of SCO and the BRI, and build an international collaborative innovation ecosystem for the higher education industry. Meanwhile, the Education Working Committee sets up a stage for the international exchanges of 800 million young people of the SCO countries and strengthens people-to-people bonds and mutual learning among civilizations. It also plays a significant role in practicing the Shanghai Spirit, building a new type of international relations, safeguarding a multilateral world pattern, and driving rule-based and institutional opening-up.
At the establishment ceremony, key entities, including the Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries, the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and the Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies, solidified their partnerships through the signing of several research project cooperation agreements. Additionally, they thoroughly reviewed and subsequently ratified a set of relevant rules and regulations, underpinning the dedication towards shared growth and collaboration.
