The Ring Shopping Park

By CHANG CHEN|Oct 30,2023

The Ring Shopping Park in Chongqing represents China’s pioneering commercial venture into the concept of combining urban living with the beauty of nature. As the debut project of “The Ring,” it aspires to create a unique “Living Mall” space that seamlessly blends commerce with nature. With the slogan “Living Mall, Living More,” the development aims to infuse the city with vitality, foster community cohesion, spark inspiration, and deliver an engaging shopping experience unlike any other.

The project encompasses a 170,000-square-meter shopping mall and a sprawling 70,000-square-meter indoor and outdoor urban green park. It integrates a diverse range of commercial formats, including international luxury, urban fashion, family-oriented attractions, global culinary delights, and a myriad of ever-evolving social activities.

In a concerted effort to connect people with one another, with nature, and with businesses, The Ring in Chongqing has thoughtfully curated themed spaces that foster nature appreciation, communal sharing, social interaction, and companionship through innovative experiences. These include the awe-inspiring “Muguang Forest,” a rare indoor botanical garden within a commercial complex, the dynamic “Free+” trendy sports proving ground, the intellectually stimulating “Open Lab” with a focus on reading and art, and the open parent-child sharing space, “Small World.”

“Muguang Forest”:

“Muguang Forest” stands as a vertical landscape spanning seven floors, soaring 42 meters high (from B1 to L5). It features an exquisite collection of nearly 300 tropical rainforest plants grouped into three captivating themes: the tree of life, the suspended forest, and the flower waterfall valley. A dozen interactive attractions are meticulously placed throughout to create a captivating spatial hierarchy.

Throughout the seasons, the botanical garden undergoes natural transformations, offering a kaleidoscope of colors and scenes. Strolling along the covered bridge trail, visitors can bask in the allure of the ultimate jungle scenery, immersing themselves in boundless greenery that resembles a terrestrial paradise. An intelligent temperature control system ensures a constant temperature experience, allowing visitors to relish a lush green world even during chilly winters.

Free+ Trendy Sports Variety Proving Ground:

“Free+” shatters the conventional mold and assembles a community of youth through consumer experiences, activities, and social interactions, making the space genuinely “alive.” This section boasts a partnership with Hupu Sports, and it houses the first-ever “Passer King” themed arena, complete with professional-grade basketball court amenities and a striking 10-meter-spanning, six-story panoramic grandstand. Offline basketball games and Hupu pop-up shops will take place here, along with a plethora of other attractions, from e-sports and concerts to street dance shows and POP-UP STOREs. It’s a glimpse into the future of trends and a haven for the fashion-forward youth.

Open Lab:

Open Lab is an intellectual and social oasis designed around the themes of reading, art, and creativity. It serves as a hub for reading exchanges, thought-provoking forums, cultural salons, knowledge sharing, and casual dining. The design incorporates elements like logs, staircases, green spaces, and books to craft an immersive, unhurried social scene that encourages relaxation and easy communication.

“Small World”:

Positioned as an open, multi-functional parent-child shared space, “Small World” comprises a grassy playground, an action-packed children’s area, and a children’s toy market. It seeks to foster interaction and connection among young families, addressing both the emotional and social needs of parents and children and rekindling the joys of family life.
