Consul General of Myanmar in Chongqing Visits the FAO

Chongqing - On November 14, Wang Wen, the Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of the Chongqing Municipal Government, met with the newly appointed Consul General of Myanmar in Chongqing, Thwin Htet Lin, to discuss deepening friendly exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Myanmar in various fields.

Wang Wen warmly welcomed Thwin Htet Lin on his new appointment as the Consul General of Myanmar in Chongqing. Since its inception, she expressed gratitude for the Myanmar Consulate General's role in fostering high-level visits and economic cooperation between Chongqing and Myanmar.

In her overview of Chongqing's economic and social progress, Wang Wen highlighted the city's strengths in openness, technological innovation, smart manufacturing, infrastructure, and education and culture. She reviewed the ongoing collaboration between the two regions in personnel and educational exchanges and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor construction. Wang Wen expressed hope for deeper economic and trade relations, utilizing the corridor's advantages and strengthening city ties between Chongqing, Yangon, and Mandalay.

Wang Wen reassured that the Chongqing FAO would continue to coordinate with municipal departments and units to support the Myanmar Consulate General in Chongqing. She also hoped that the Consulate General, along with relevant institutions and businesses, would actively support and participate in Chongqing's major events and initiatives.

Responding, Thwin Htet Lin expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome in Chongqing. Despite his brief stay, he recognized the city's beauty and status as a technological hub. He emphasized the Belt and Road initiative and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor for their roles in enhancing investment, trade, personnel exchange, and logistical cooperation between the two regions.

Thwin Htet Lin committed to working closely with the Chongqing FAO. He aims to build upon the existing foundation to expand cooperation between Myanmar and Chongqing in economic, logistics, tourism, education, and local exchanges.
