Chongqing - A delegation of ten Moldovan media representatives and industry experts completed a tour of multiple high-profile companies and institutions in Chongqing between November 18-20, where they experienced the results of modernization in China, including autonomous hail-ride taxis in Yongchuan District and manufacturing technology at Great Wall Motor Company. The itinerary also featured Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) to inspect their education level in the Romanian language.

Ma Yong, an official with the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of the Chongqing Municipal Government, introduced the socio-economic development of Chongqing during an exchange meeting and commented on how Moldova is a nation endowed with picturesque scenery and unique folk customs. Ma also expressed his wishes that Moldova and Chongqing could strengthen cooperation in agriculture, smart manufacturing, and cultural exchange.
The delegation leader from the Moldovan state news agency Moldpres Simion Ropot, expressed his gratitude towards the municipal foreign affairs office for the smooth tour and warm hospitality and praised the international metropolis of Chongqing for its unique charm, incredible night scenery, and modern transportation network. Ropot leaves determined to share his insights with people back home in Moldova so that more compatriots will better understand China and Chongqing.
During their visit to SISU, delegates met with teachers and students, who shared their experiences of learning the Romanian language and performed the classic Romanian song Morăriţa. Chen Huaqiao, Vice-President of the College of Western Languages and Cultures at SISU, expressed hopes their academic journal will take the visit as an opportunity to publicize Romanian language studies in China. Meanwhile, Ropot added that youth in Moldova are now widely studying Chinese, which is helping form the basis for strong mutual ties in the future.

In Yongchuan, the delegation inspected the Chongqing Cloud Valley Big Data Industrial Park and had the opportunity to ride autonomous hail-ride taxis on the public road system. After watching the vehicles pull up, they sat inside and took a spin around the local area. Following the experience, they lavished praise using words like ‘Amazing’ and ‘Wonderful’ as they summed up their impressions.
Constantin Burghiu, head of the Moldovan news agency NOI, commented that digital technology in China has achieved a very high level and that his experience of riding autonomous vehicles in Yongchuan was unforgettable.

Later, highlights of the visit to Great Wall Motor Company included experiencing their Haval, Pick-Up, and Tank SUV models, after which they inquired about the company’s sales performance in Moldova.
Cristina Efremov, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Design at the Technical University of Moldova, observed that manufacturing technology in China has attained a world-leading position and hopes that cooperation in industrial manufacturing with China can be further strengthened.
