Mikkel Stig Larsen, hailing from Denmark, has notably served as a contract photographer and social media manager at the Western China International Communication Organization (WCICO). A graduate of Aalborg University with a degree in Computer Science and Media Technology, Mikkel brings a rich blend of media ingenuity and hands-on experience. During his time with WCICO, he extensively explored over 20 districts and counties in Chongqing. His production of the Chongqing Travel Guide documentary series, which uncovers the human narratives and traditional cultures behind the city's iconic landmarks, provided a substantial groundwork for his book.

Mikkel is a multifaceted and skilled creator. Since his arrival in China in 2011, he has resided in various cities, including Beijing, Changsha, Luoyang, Tianjin, and Chongqing. In 2022, he returned to Denmark with his wife. Once back, Mikkel converted his Chongqing experiences into both written and visual stories, crafting a travelogue-style pictorial storybook. Utilizing his expertise as a professional photographer, he weaves Chinese tales and promotes Chongqing's cultural tourism. His goal is to enhance global awareness of this largely undiscovered mega-city, thereby facilitating cultural exchanges between China, Denmark, and the Nordic nations.

Through his journey and lens, Mikkel's portrayal of Chongqing is more than just a modern urban landscape; it's a city steeped in rich historical culture, unique intangible cultural heritage, and profound traditional customs. His perspective vividly presents to international audiences the city's dynamic urban development, the harmonious melding of traditional and modern elements, and its multifaceted social tapestry.

Mikkel reflects what drew him to Chongqing was its remarkable balance – a city where the new and the old, the grand and the quaint, blend seamlessly. In his book, he delves into the masterful fusion of urban development and traditional culture. He brings to life the awe-inspiring skyline, lively urban streets, towering skyscrapers, and the charm of ancient town culture. His vivid portrayal extends to centuries-old temples and Chongqing's ever-dynamic, passionate, yet down-to-earth residents.
